Dr. Jessica Jones photo

Dr. Jessica Jones

Dr. Jessica Jones was born and raised in Fort Payne and joined DeKalb Animal Hospital in 2016 after returning to her hometown. Dr. Jones completed her clinical year at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from Auburn University and was a member of the Auburn University Equestrian Team. Dr. Jones currently resides in Mentone alongside her Shih Tzu, Lexie Mae Mae, her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Phoebe, as well as many horses and cows.

Dr. Joseph McNew

Dr. Joseph McNew was born and raised in Kentucky. He graduated from the University of Kentucky before receiving his DVM at Auburn University.
He and his wife, Emily, have two children and four grandchildren. When not working, Dr. McNew enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors and taking care of his many pets.

Dr. Linda Galbraith

Dr. Galbraith was born in Biloxi, MS and was raised in both Huntsville, AL and Maitland, FL. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida and was a 1993 graduate of University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Galbraith practiced veterinary medicine in Eustis, FL for 20 years before retiring to Mentone and joining the staff of DeKalb Animal Hospital. She has been happily married for 20 years and enjoys horseback riding in her free time.

Luisa has been working as a tech at DeKalb Animal Hospital since December 2012. She has a great love for all animals and has two dogs, one cat, several sheep, and chickens.

Paula is our office manager and has been with DeKalb Animal Hospital for 25 years. She has a great love for animals and is very thankful that she gets to spend her life surrounded by them. When she is away from work, she loves spending time with her husband and daughter.

Natalie has been with DeKalb Animal Hospital for 3 years and is a client service specialist. She is a native of Fort Payne and has always had a great love for animals. When away from work, Natalie enjoys spending time with her family, horseback riding and being outdoors.

Lindy is a tech at DeKalb Animal Hospital and has dreamed of working with animals since she was a little girl. She is a native of Fort Payne and considers herself incredibly blessed to be able to wake up every day and do what she loves in the town where she was born and raised.

Ariel, a tech at DeKalb Animal Hospital, was raised in Jackson County, AL, and graduated from North Sand Mountain High School. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends and rescue dog, Delilah, who is blind.

Patty has been working with DeKalb Animal Hospital as a tech since August 2014 and she makes our clinic much brighter because she always has a smile on her face. Patty is also currently attending Northeast Alabama Community College to be a registered nurse. In her free time, she enjoys going to the gym and running.

Kristin Bailey Gardner

Kristin is the newest client service specialist at DeKalb Animal Hospital and oversees public relations. She was born and raised in DeKalb County and graduated from Fort Payne High School. Kristin also graduated from Auburn University with a B.A. in Corporate Journalism and worked as Director of Communications/Media Relations for the Alabama State Senate for twelve years before moving back to her hometown to be near her family. She has been a huge animal lover for as long as she can remember and her main passion in life is helping animals in need. Kristin has been actively involved in dog rescue and advocacy for many years and is currently Vice President/Rescue Coordinator of Friends of DeKalb County-AL Animal Adoption Center, a local non-profit rescue organization. She is the proud mother of two precious children and eight furbabies, and she also has several foster dogs at any given time. Besides loving on all of her babies, Kristin also enjoys anything fitness-related, writing and cheering on her Auburn Tigers!

Renee Thomas

Renee serves as both a tech and client service representative at DeKalb Animal Hospital. She was born in Whitesburg, KY and went to Sylvania High School and Plainview High School before attending Northeast Alabama Community College, where she earned an Associate's degree in medical assisting. Renee currently resides in Ider alongside her eight dogs and ten cats. When she is not working, Renee enjoys reading, cooking and spending time outdoors.

Lupe Avila

Guadalupe "Lupe" Avila has been working as the head kennel tech at DeKalb Animal Hospital since December 2004. She loves animals dearly and enjoys church activities, spending time with her family and working each day with her coworkers. Lupe's coworkers certainly love her and her contagious smile, as well, and consider her to be the "cat whisperer" of the clinic!
